2026 Firefighters’ Memorial Service
The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD), joined by the Los Angeles County Firefighters’ Memorial Committee, International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1014, and the Los Angeles County Association of Chiefs, held the annual Firefighters’ Memorial Service on May 13, 2026.
Held annually at the LACoFD Memorial Wall at Headquarters, the Firefighters’ Memorial Service pays homage to the life and legacy of brave, fallen members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As part of this year’s service, Fire Captains Henry Flores, David Gonzalez and Michael Mercado were formally memorialized and added to the Memorial Wall as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for faithfully serving with bravery and distinction.
In addition to the laying of the memorial wreaths, Chaplains Vince Roldan and Michael Nielsen delivered a personal remembrance of each individual recognized at this year’s service. Every name engraved on the Memorial Wall was subsequently read and followed by the ringing of the Last Alarm to honor their memory.
“As I reflect on the many names inscribed on the Memorial Wall, I am certain our fallen members would tell us they were doing the work they loved, believed in, and were passionate about,” said LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone. “For the families of Henry, David and Michael, they were cherished family men, devoted friends and courageous firefighters who served Los Angeles County with conviction. They truly exemplified what it means to be a hero – selfless, brave and fearless.”
